This is my first new zero turn mower. I am glad that I bought this a month ago and that I am happy that I did.Its the best mower that I ever bought.Mows like a dream.
Have owed my ZT 1 50 for about 2 months now, and couldn't be any happier with the mower. 1st zero turn I've owed and love it!! Had to practice maneuvering it around before I cut the grass, which was not an issue because it handles so easily.
I bought this lawnmower a couple months ago as a up grade for my old lawn tractor have mowed with it three time so far and all I can say is wished I had done the upgrade soone
I purchased this mower because my 7 year old John Deere gave out. I like the idea of the three year warranty. I was able to go right over to Home Depot and look at all of the models sitting side by side. I went to get the 42", but I really like the deck on the 50". It seems to be much more heavy duty, and since I have hills the Kawasaki Parallel Twin is exceptional.
I've been wanting one for a while and finally decided to get one and its great! I have 1 acre and after getting acclimated to the controls its a dream. This zero turn has the power and deck I was looking for and it has larger tires than competitors at the same price. The only thing I have noticed and I'm going to get it looked at is the front right wheel starts to squeak about 20 min into cutting but it doesn't effect anything. over all a great buy!
This Cub Cadet mower is a beast. I absolutely love it and all of its features. Honestly, I haven't found one negative thing to say about it since I've been using it.
This lower goes about 7mph forward and 3.5 in reverse. 7mph doesnt sound fast but when you're mowing, it's pretty quick. Instead of it taking me close to 3 hours to mow my land, its cut down to an hour or hour and a half. It cuts from 1in to 4.5in, and it's an level even cut. Not a high patch here and a low patch there, it's even! This thing even has a deck wash, high pressure water that cleans out grass and debris build-up under the deck. It's pretty awesome and very convenient. The seat is adjustable for short to taller people, it adjust under the seat and is comfortable. You want comfort when you're out in the sun and sitting for a while. Has headlights to be able to see and maneuver at night, which is a good add on since it gets hot here in NC and I prefer to mow once the sun goes down. Lastly I want to add the park break/emergency break. No reaching down or using your foot to press a break. Just close your lap bars and it stops in your tracks. Some people dont like that but I do. Handling is really good and controls work flawlessly. Not hard to maneuver at all. Needless to say, I love this mower!
I ordered it online, and it was delivered the very next day! The gentleman that delivered it was professional and knew what he was talking about when he dropped it off. Cut my lawn the same day I got it and super happy with how easy it is to use and the great job it did! It’s also a good looking machine. Happy happy
Great cut with three blades and strong engine. Fabricated deck is excellent and stays clean. I did add the arm rest kit for more comfort.
Purchased this mower on 9/27/19 from a local dealer. I did a lot of research before buying. Looked at a lot of big brand names along with Cub Cadet. For the price point, the ZT1 50 seemed like the best bang for the buck. 23hp Kawasaki motor, 50in fab. deck, LED headlights just to name a few features. I've been on a few zero turns, but this is my first. Have only had lawn tractors. Easy starting, awesome cut and very fast. Purchased the mulch kit as well, does a fine job. I own 1 acre, cut my mowing time in half. Also does well on my steep hills. You will not be disappointed with this mower.
being a now retired ASE Master tech and small off road engine tech still part time employed,Also owning a Lt1050 and a sr621 and 3 vintage early CUBS. I did a lot of shopping to replace my aged 2008 cub cadet LT1050 . and lot i mean looking at every brand,Opting for another CUB over others .
Finding NONE at the nearby servicing cub dealers, I had to opt for one from home depot,Insisting on in the crate for self assembly.knowing how poorly they assemble,
Took a hour to UN-crate, Man are those crates nailed.plated and screwed another 2 to go over it and do a basic PDI going over every nut and bolt with a torque wrench,Did i find issues? YES several bad ones. Many bolts were loose,in critical spots, At any rate the unit is as well built as the others if not better. Side by side with a major brand commercial i was servicing ,JUST as good. parts used are of good to great quality,
PRO's
Overall it's way better Built than the nearer competitor .Welded steel VER stamped. The frame is a tank,The fab deck another beast. Engine one of the best, only bested out by a Honda engine, In the minds of pro techs. many bolted items ,go into rivet nuts with fully threaded bolts, not self threading bolts into holes punched into the steel.that are well known to techs to cause issues at latter dates.
CUT wise it's better than my old cub LT1050 ever did, The Kawasaki motor is smooth running with way less noisy than the old 25 hp kohler courage sv730 i was used to.
CONs
The seat adjustment using wing nut bolts,STINKS.where is the lever shown in the owners manual?
The fuel tank level can not be seen from the seat, one must look at the tank from the rear to see whats left.
3 of the 5/16x16 bolts going into the rivet nuts used had been cross threaded into the nuts.1 on the floor plate,1 on the folding rear cross bar, broke off while carefully trying to get them out. 1/2 hour of very careful drilling and re tapping they were out and replaced, saving the rivet nut used i was able to remove and re-thread the third
I know there has to be other areas where self threading bolts were used those will get replaced when removed.
One item i dread is the blade spindles , I know from past issues the imported bearing are double lip sealed and dry from the maker. every one i have had to replace, when i took the seals out i found no grease what so ever, why they put a grease zerk on the housing knowing one can not grease a double sealed,is beyond me.
Yet overall i would highly recommend this machine.
After a couple of weeks of research on various mowers I decided to go with the ZT1 50. It was delivered Friday 5/22/20 & used the mower over the weekend. After 6 hrs of use I am very satisfied! I read about certain issues with the deck vibrating while the PTO is engaged; I did NOT experience this issue. I cut about 3.5 acres & this mower definitely cut my time in half. I have uneven terrain with slopes/hills & several trees. It maneuvered so smoothly & was a joy to operate. The design & features are definitely an A-plus in my book. I will update review in a few months. Thanks, Cub Cadet for such an awesome mower!
Great purchase! Quality of cut is excellent. Cuts 2 1/2 acres in half the time it took my 42” tractor mower to do the job. Very pleased!
This is one of the best lawn mower we have ever owned, smooth ride, very comfortable seat, easy to use, love the turn zero. We have 2 1/2 acres of grass to cut and it took only an hour. I will enjoy cutting the grass now
The Cub Cadet - ZT1 50 has so many amazing features. The deck has a hose attachment to enable you to clean underneath the deck. The mower is extremely easy to drive, and the steering handles are adjustable. The dial to adjust the height of the grass is easy to move. The steering capability is good for going around trees and shrubs. The mower has three blades and a 23 hp Kawasaki motor , it’s air cooled . The drain tube for the oil is unique.
We are very pleased with our zero turn Cub Cadet mower and fight over who gets to cut the grass now. Score!
I bought this wonder machine Cub Cadet - ZT1 50 to help on my 3 acres and boy I tell you. I sure was super surprise at the way it moves, powerful punch, and guides. With this Cub Cadet - ZT1 50 it takes me around 1 hour now to mow my 3 acres. I recommend this Cub Cadet - ZT1 50 to everybody. It's easy to guide especially for a woman.
First use was awesome. Seat is especially comfortable as is the foot deck mat. Speed was very fast, cutting height selection was so easy and so many grass height levels to choose from. I really like the LED headlights for the fall nights coming soon. This mower got much better traction than my other ZTR, no more left rear wheel spinning. Only things I would change would be to have an easy-adjust seat (kind of a hassle to take bolts out to adjust it) and the handles have too far of a throw to get to top speed. I might also add a USB port for cell phones too, just saying.
I enjoy mowing my lawn now. The seat of this is amazing and so comfortable. It is so easy to use. It's a powerful machine and I would recommend to anyone that has a big yard to mow this makes time go back with a breeze. The headlights really help when the sun is going down. The different levels of the mower really ensure that you can get your lawn looking awesome. I Highly recommend this mower it is absolutely the best of all time.
I bought this mower about 1.5 months ago and wanted to wait to leave a review after a few cuts. I have cut my lawn 5 times with this mower now and I am impressed. I am coming from a lawn tractor and this mower has cut my mowing time in half. Easy to maneuver and cuts evenly on a mostly flat yard. I also purchased the striping kit and makes a slight difference on the striping. Just wished the rollers had more weight to make the grass bend more to show noticeable stripes in the yard. A little aeriation this fall and some KY31 seed and next season hope to have better results. Overall, a purchase I will make again in the future with the cub cadet brand.
This mower is great, we were able to get done in half the time as normal and it left the grass looking amazing. It is our first zero turn and very easy to use.
Maintain it well and you will get lots of use out of it. I use this residential tractor in my landscaping company's fleet and it puts up to hours of use daily everyday. Superior cut quality and power. I've never been through grass too tall or too thick for this beast -- just keep the blades sharpened. It has no problem hauling mulch and dirt with the two large turf tires (top dressing a lawn). It will not wheelie, but instead provides a smooth, responsive acceleration. The lights and cut quality could be better, but that's why Cub Cadet offers commercial products. It is more than adequate for residential use.
I really got sick and tired of paying lawn guys to either NOT SHOW or scalp and destroy my lawn..So if you want it done right , DO IT YOURSELF!! and what better way than to do it with a really nice zero turn CUB CADET ZT1 50..took me 28 minutes to zoom around yard (over an acre) and this included my "learning curve" use of the Zero Turn. AWESOME MOWER...Bye Bye lawn guys , hello relaxing cruise around yard with a "cold one" in the cup holder.
