About This Product
Winter’s biggest snowfalls are no match for the self-propelled Power Max 824 OE Snow Blower. With a 252cc Toro Premium 4-cycle OHV engine leading the charge, you’ll muscle through the toughest snow and ice Mother Nature has to offer. And you’ll be back inside for dinner before your neighbors, too, thanks to a 24 in. wide clearing width and 20 in. intake height that make quick work of even the deepest snow. The innovative Quick Stick control allows you to change the steel chute direction and chute deflector with a single, smooth motion. Convenient one-hand operation levers allow single-handed use, freeing the other hand to change speeds or the chute control without stopping. The exclusive Anti-Clogging System monitors snow intake to reduce clogging and maximize clearing efficiency. The blower is also equipped with hardened gears in your auger gearbox – there are no shear pins to replace. Instead, if the auger hits hard material, the engine will purposely stall to prevent damage. Ideal for concrete, asphalt and gravel surfaces. And with Toro’s 3-year limited warranty, you can rest easy knowing that you’re prepared for anything winter has in store. Count on it.

No issues at all. This snowblower starts right up and throws snow a healthy distance. I got it because it was rated for both paved and gravel surfaces (my driveway is gravel). One major improvement is the chute rotation control. The new mechanism is much better than the older mechanisms. So far, so good.
This is the first plowable snow that we've had since we bought the Toro. My wife loves the features, and that it is so easy to maneuver compared to or prior Ariens, that she had to lug around and fight with. If I get lucky, she'll volunteer to use it for all the other storms while I chat with the neighbors. You can tell it was engineered in Minnesota.
I've not had much chance to use this. The classic "snow jinx" after buying a new snowblower. However, it did work extremely well on 4" of heavy, wet snow-as well as my previous Ariens did. Absolutely love the one hand joy stick control of the chute direction and angle. I live in a very windy location that requires a fast response to changing wind direction.
The Power Max 824 eat up 6 inches of snow in no time at all and started up on the first pull and it was easy to use
Great power, easy to drive. Best feature is the shooter arm directions; gives broad options of where to send the snow.
My new Toro Power Max 824 ate through the frozen, crusty snow at the end of my driveway with ease. It also picked up and threw both powder and heavy wet snow. I have two driveways and a corner lot worth of sidewalks. This snow thrower tackled everything with ease. My only critique is that it’s a little on the heavy side, about 200 lbs and you have to think of that when you’re trying to maneuver it and when using the speed controls.
Great blower. Very efficient and clearing off driveways and sidewalks.
great product .
Put to the test this week. Heavy wet snow. Handled it easily. Glad I bought this Toro
I use this 824 OE in Eastern Ontario, loads of snow and I use the machine for maybe eight to ten hours a season....I've changed the plug once, I run it with the highest octane that we sell up here and run it dry at the end of season... The machine cuts powder like butter but it will struggle a "little" with WET heavy snow...Starts first pull, in warmer weather even without the choke. Its been dependable for me and a useful machine. Thanks Toro!
I only used it twice but this thing went through the wettest 12” of snow with no problems. I highly recommend it.
My first use was a real good test for the Toro Power Max 2 stage snow blower. Our cabin is on the west shore of Lake Tahoe and the snow there is wet and heavy often called "Sierra Cement". Delivery was delayed so there was over 2 feet with a frozen crust in the mix. I had to pick the berm from the plow at the street but was able to get about 8 inches above ground level and the snow blower was able to work through the 18+- inches of snow. I did have to muscle it at times because of the crust, but it ground it up and threw it with ease. If I had chains for the tires It would have taken less effort on my part, for the only issue was traction. The shute controll worked effortlessly and used some wax on the paint before use and no clogging. (my brother said I should try silicone spray to prevent the snow from sticking) Cleared out a space big enough for two vehicles in no time. Very pleased with the performance and started in the cold without issue. I would recommend.
The machine was easy to setup right out of the box. A few pieces to finish hooking together as shown in the pictures/manual and it started right up using the elertric start. After that it started easily using the pull start. No missing pieces or loose hardware in the box.
Toro 24 inch snowblower has a lot of power! My only wish is that it had a self turn feature that would help navigate the equipment, but it does have forward and reverse. Very happy with my purchase.
