   I have several Makita tools, and really only one of them has ever disappointed me. This lawn mower is not that one. This thing is awesome. Very quiet, and is easy to use. The deck height adjustment is the best I have ever used on any brand of mower. Battery life is adequate with 4 - 5 amp hour batteries. I have a normal sized city lot, and I am able to mow my entire lawn with about a half charge left on 2 of the 4 batteries. I did have one time that I mowed with longer than normal grass length and lots of leaves on the ground, and that one time I did use up the full charge on all 4 batteries. There is a small delay when you engage the self propelled system, but you get used to it. Like all Makita products, it is built very well and ergonomics are spot on. Makita says that it is built for professional use, but I absolutely love this thing as a consumer use product.    Love the idea of electric. It's quiet, powerful, and lightweight. The ramp up self propel is a little getting use to but works. Only issue I had was bermuda grass is suppose to be cut low and the lowest setting is about 1.25" on the mower. I was able to disassemble the height bracket, tap new holes, and remount the bracket to cut about .75" now!    Yo, if you are on the fence about buying this mower don't hesitate, this is a fantastic piece of hardware. I have been a gas power tool guy for ever and this mower has changed my mind. It so nice that it is quite.
   Love this thing, I am going to love mowing the lawn all summer with this mower.

   I replaced my Toro lawnmower with this unit. It has plenty of power. A 1/2 acre of grass in the description is a little aggressive for battery life. 1/4 to 1/3 acre is more realistic. The drive works well. I read a review that stated the cut was not even. It's definitely not the crew cut you get with a gas mower, but I was tired of the gas and oil and belt issues. The cut is a little more like a normal haircut, not all the blades are cut the same, but the all get cut. My biggest beef is the mulching. The Toro would chop the blades very fine and drive them into the lawn. You didn't have grass clippings on the lawn. The Makita does not do as good a job at mulching and leaves a lot more clippings.

   If you have been on the fence about buying an electric mower I would recommend this Makita. It is powerful enough to go through high grass and automaticly speeds up when you encounter higher grass. This is an awesome brushless motor in this motor. My lawn looks well kept because it comes with a bagger. You can mulch and put the grass out the side with chute provided. My particular model did not come with batteries and charger. If you shop around and do not care if you use OEM batteries you can find them for $66 / pair (2 ea) or $33 each. I love the easy push button startup. I always use the self propel function and there is an adjustable speed control in the handle. Install 4 batteries and you get approx 1 hr. of mowing time and 45 min to recharge 2 ea. Mowing height is easily adjusted by adjusting one wheel. Adjust one and all move at the same time. No carburetor to foul or adjust. None of the pain in the rear end gas mower parts on it to fail. Big seller for me.

   Well I just received the mower two days ago and cut the lawn yesterday. I have 14 Makita tools 12 of which are LXT cordless. So having 15 batteries and three chargers made it an easy decision to get the mower too. Was a little worried at first. Glad I paid more for the 21” because the 18” would be just too small.
   
   Okay so the good points: very easy to assemble. Make sure to take out the discharge plug if you’re going to bag. By the way that is simply one of the best things about this mower. If you’ve ever used a Snapper Hi-Vac then you’ll love this thing! My Craftsman bagger would normally fill up one 30 gallon waste can. This thing filled up four! Really sucks in a good way! And you’ll know when it needs to be changed. Another great item of interest. If it gets full and the grass builds up it will shut off. That’s why I freaked out when I realized how fast it filled the bag! Okay for the battery life. My lawn is a little thicker on one side of the house because of shade. Also the front is hilly so up and down had a lot to do with the self propelled killing the batteries. So it was no wonder the first bank died after about half the yard. So? Just flip the switch to the second bank and you’re good to go. When I finished (after multiple dumping of the clippings) I was surprised to see the second bank still charged! Batteries get real hot so be carful and let them cool down. Okay the self propelled feature is very good. Makita has very good build quality. Fully adjustable which is great. I like that there is a short time delay when you reengage the handle. This is great when you have let go of the handle then turn around and hit the handle again. Because it’s rear wheel drive you can’t tilt it back and turn around while it’s in drive. Not a big deal really. Took me two minutes to get it understood.
   
   Okay the bad. The weight really is the only thing to gripe about. The price is high. I wanted the upgrade with charger and four batteries but didn’t want to wait a month. So I bought the trimmer and got that package as well.
   
   This is the best mower I’ve ever owned. I am in Makita bliss with all of my tools. I think I need more batteries though! Lol! Dump the gas hogs and get this mower!
